how to cool a 1988 dodge shadow es turbo intake?
i have a 1988 dodge shadow es turbo and i am wondering what i can do to cool down the intake manifold cause it is scalding hot after the car warms up and i know that it ain’t good for the power or for the air flow so i need a way to keep it cool or to at least cool it down so if there are ways than please tell me. thanks.
Get use the intake manifold getting searing hot. The intake manifold is the biggest comprimse of the 8V motors.
The best way to help reduce under hood temps?
Have the exhaust manifold, turbo and swing valve ceramic coated. That should help abit on keeping the temps down. This gets expensive. I’ve been thinking about coating all my parts. The exhaust manifold is 175, turbo 100 and swing valve is 75.
Putting some stick on heat shielding between the intake manifold and exhaust manifold will help. The problems is getting it to stick to the intake manifold.
You could install a vent above the intake manifold. Older turbododges use to have hood vents above the intake manifold. There also use to be a tiny air dam that bolted to the k-frames. But I was told it was to help cool off the starter. I would be surprised it was used to create a current of air to flow over the back of the motor towards the vent. My 87 Shadow ES 2.2TI had one.
There is no one solution. You need to do several for the best effects.
I’m currently looking at using a TBI shadow hood to install a vent to keep my underhood temps down. I’ve already put all the electrical and fluid lines in thermo sleeves. I’m also using special heater hose since the new line of only two years was already dried out from my turbo.
