Pulley Alignment
How to check pulley alignment?
I have changed the belt and belt tensioner on 97 cavalier and still have squeal coming from the power steering pulley area. I thought it might be the pump it self but with the belt off the pulley will spin freely by hand. I have tryed spraying it with water and the squeal will stop. So i sparyed it with belt dressing and it stoped squealing for a couple min and then starts back. So I am guessing the pulley is out of alignment. I dont know how to check to see. If someone could tell me how to check it or has any other suggestions on what it could be Please let me know.
sight down one pulley, or use a striaght edge across the face of obne pulley to another to see of it accuratley aligns to the other pulley.
its kinda hard to explain, but if that eplanation doent work, go to a mechanic and ask him how he does it. he’ll probobly do the above, but you will see him do it and learn how
