Induction Hose
What is a crankcase breather hose and why is it connected to my K&N induction kit on my fiesta zetec-s 1.25L??
After cleaning my k&n induction kit i noticed that there was a hole with a hose going into the actual filter on the induction kit from the centre of the engine. I’ve looked this up in my haynes manual and it is called a crankcase breather hose. Firstly what does it do? and secondly why is it connected to my filter on the K&N induction kit? HELP PLEASE! CHEERS!

You car is fitted with what is known as a CLOSED LOOP BREATHER SYSTEM wherein the crank fumes (oil etc) are passed into the intake for combustion, so preventing them from being passed into the atmosphere. The fumes are passed through breather hoses, such as the one you describe.
