Gauge Water
How to make sure water is enough in my engine beside looking at the coolant gauge?
I understand the level gauge but how to make sure that my car has enough water? What makes the water in the coolant to drop from its level even if you have not open it? I`m lost
Under the hood you will find a coolant overflow tank. They are usually a light colored translucent plastic tank. In the side of the tank there will be the markings “Full Hot” and Cull Cold”. The coolant should be between these marks.
Also, there will be a warning on the tank or on the cap saying something like “Never open while the engine is hot”. This is because when the engine is up to operating temperature the coolant will be under pressure, up to 15 PSI. It will also be very hot, above 200F. The cap can also release steam when the pressure is relieved which can burn your skin.
Some model vehicles will also have an idiot light that will tell you when the coolant is low. However don’t confuse this with the high temperature light.
