How much is the cheapest posi traction set-up and 3.73 gear for a Camaro ‘97? And where can I find that price?
I bought a 3rd hand 1997 Chevy Camaro (30th anniversay) and I found out that it had a limited posi traction. Now, I’d like to change it to full posi and add 3.73 gear but I’d like to find out first how much it will incur more or less, all in all.
Not sure if I’m confused or not, but if you have a posi-unit already, changing to a different posi unit won’t change much unless the unit you already have is malfunctioning. If you step on the throttle and both tires spin, switching units out won’t change that. If you have an Eaton limited slip with the clutch plates, the plates can wear out, especially if someone doesn’t use the right gear lube. Or if you mean you want the tires locked all the time, such as a spool would do, this is only recommended for full drag race cars at the track. Running a car on the street with a fully locked rear end is excessively hard on the rear end parts and pieces and can get you in big trouble if you aren’t careful. The average aftermarket posi unit goes between $300 to $500 dollars and a gear goes about $150 to $250 depending on what you want. You’ll also need an installation kit and definitely this need to be done by someone who REALLY knows what they are doing and has the right tools. Getting this wrong will be huge headache.
